Mounir hails from an affluent family background. A highly cultured individual, he has had a good education. culminating with degree from Cairo University, Faculty of Applied Arts. A Nubian, The majority of his school life was spent in Aswan before his family moved to Cairo in the early 1970s when the land known as Nubia was flooded due to building of Aswan High Dam.
