So, what are Americans going to do?
The "USA's Most Wanted" playing cards You cannot avoid it any longer. You cannot pretend it did not happen. You cannot wish it away. It's real. The President of the United States lied to start a war. Under American system of laws, only Congress has... Full text

| | | Sci/Tech: AMD and ATI Web Sites Merge | If you've been trying to enter ATI's web site in the last couple of hours, you might have noticed that the recently announced ATI/AMD merger has now been assimilated into their web site as well. The old red and silver ATI design has been replaced with the green AMD design, and www.ati.com now automatically transfers the user to ati.amd.com.

| Sci/Tech: Seagate Leaks 750GB Barracuda 7200.10 Details | A PDF accidentally showed up on Seagate's website earlier today with the
latest details on perpendicular desktop hard drives.
Seagate insiders contacted us early this morning with a few snippets of
information (PDF) concerning the upcoming Barracuda 7200.10 series hard drives.
Like other Barracuda drives, the 7200.10 series are based on 7,200RPM spindles.
Two 750GB models have already shown up on the Seagate website. The Barracuda
7200.10 ST3750640A (PATA) and the ST3750640SA (SATA) will be two new models we
can look forward to seeing this year. The Seagate webpage reveals dozens of
other NCQ-ready 7200.10 based products ranging from 200GB on up. Cache
information was not available via the website yet, but the official Seagate PDF
claims the Barracuda 7200.10 series will come with 16MB and 8MB buffers.
Considering these two drives will be the best of breed for Seagate, it is fairly
safe to assume these drives will have 16MB caches.
Seagate representatives have told us that the information posted was "very
premature" and was not be posted on the website for several weeks. Seek time
information has not been released yet, which has traditionally been considered
the problem area for perpendicular recording devices. However, the 7200.10
datasheet claims all drives in the series will have a 4.16ms average latency
time.
Several days ago Seagate announced its Cheetah 15K.5 series drives based on
15,000RPM platters. The Cheetah 15K.5 series also uses perpendicular recording
to increase densities, but is solely limited to SCSI right now. Pricing is not
available yet on either the 15K.5 or 7200.10 series. All Seagate hard drives
come with 5-year warranties.

| Sci/Tech: Google to start 'video blogging' | Search engine firm Google is to begin an experiment in "video blogging",
according to co-founder Larry Page.
Mr Page told a conference in San Francisco that the company would be archiving
people's video clips, starting in the next few days.
The move to let people upload video to Google's servers comes as the firm trials
a video search service. Google Video provides transcripts of TV clips and links
to downloadable content, where it is available.
Video blogging - vlogging - is still a new phenomenon but is expected to take
off as web space becomes cheaper - or even free - and digital cameras become
ever more sophisticated.

| Sci/Tech: Hitachi Stacks Up 1TB Storage Capacity | Hitachi Global Storage Technologies have developed a digital storage
technology method that will create a record 1TB storage density on disk drives.
The process, known as perpendicular recording, places tiny magnetic ones and
zeros, the basis for digital technology, upright instead of end to end, allowing
them to be packed closer together.
The Hitachi storage development would allow PCs to store a trillion bytes of
information.
Hitachi will make the announcement, one the magnetic storage industry has been
waiting on for twenty years, on Monday
According to the New York Times, Hitachi plans to report a storage density of
230 billion bits per square inch. Such technology would create a desktop
computer drive capable of storing twice the capacity of today's disks.
Currently the industry relies on updated improvements in end to end longitudinal
recording systems. With the rate of improvement for such systems slowing down
the storage industry is preparing to make the transition to perpendicular
recording.
In a move that may keep costs down Toshiba and Seagate Technology will also be
offering drives based on perpendicular recording this year.

| Sci/Tech: Free Skype to text service in Beta | Following on from its successful SMS (text) to Skype Chat service, London
based Connectotel has started beta testing a service that allows Skype users to
send SMS text messages from within Skype Chat to any GSM mobile phone user.
The 'Skype to SMS' service is available as a Beta test for all users of Skype
who have been authorized by Connectotel. There is no charge for the SMS messages
sent, for the duration of the Beta test. The 'SMS to Skype' Beta test service is
available free of charge to all users of Skype.
To use the service, users simply chat with a Skype user called smsgateway. From
within the Skype Chat window, they merely type "+number". The message is
transmitted to Connectotel's gateway system and is passed from there to the GSM
network.
