WANTED FOR JUSTICE

So, what are Americans going to do?

The "USA's Most Wanted" playing cards

You cannot avoid it any longer.
You cannot pretend it did not happen.
You cannot wish it away. It's real.

 Politics: Tribute to Saddam Hussein

This is the third anniversary of the martyrdom of Iraq President Saddam Hussein. It is an occasion to reflect on his qualities and qualifications as the greatest of Arab resisters and the most unwavering champion of the Arab nation. We may do so by citing authoritative and eloquent Islamic, Arab and even American sources, as well as the words of the man himself, as he addressed Americans and his fellow Iraqis from captivity and as he faced his martyrdom.

Politics: Spain caves into Israel, says it will amend war crimes law so that it does not a

Elie Wiesel attacks pope over Holocaust bishop
Pope Benedict has given credence to "the most vulgar aspect of anti-Semitism" by rehabilitating a Holocaust-denying bishop, said Elie Wiesel, the death camp survivor, author and Nobel Peace Prize winner.

Gaza Dozens believed dead in reprisal attacks as Hamas retakes control
Evidence is emerging of a wave of reprisal attacks and killings inside Gaza that have left dozens dead and more wounded in the wake of Israel's war.
Translation of the phrase "Evidence is emerging": Israel is doing its level best, in the propaganda war concerning Gaza, to dump some of the blame on Hamas for the continued violence and death in Gaza.

Hard evidence is either present or not, and there is no middle ground.

And about that bit concerning Hamas "taking over Gaza"; this cannot and will not happen without Israel's blessing. Unfortunately, Abbas continues to carry Israel's water, with no end in sight.

If Hamas and Fatah don't start to unite politically against Israel, the whole dream of a functioning Palestinian state will come to nothing.

Of course, that's precisely the outcome Israel wants.

Israeli War Criminals in Patagonia
If you are a lawyer and aware to catch some of these criminals to bring them before the justice, then you should speak with the authorities in order to make them aware and if possible to arrest these Israeli war criminals, and provide their names to the Interpol or to the local police in order to catch them during their stay in Patagonia in Chile and Argentina stealing, selling drugs, doing military and scientific research, spying, and who knows what other military missions in the wilderness, possibly training and preparing to invade their neighboring countries, which have a vegetation and geography similar to Patagonia.

Groups review Gaza conflict for war crimes
While Israel is not a signatory to the Rome Statute and, therefore, is not subject to the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, nearly all European courts have claimed authority to investigate and prosecute war crimes of other countries. It was a Spanish magistrate who prosecuted the case of former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet and, just Friday, another Spanish court announced it was investigating several Israeli officials for their alleged role in a 2002 military assault on Gaza.
Except that as noted below, the government of Spain, as infected with Israelis as USA, has announced it will change the laws to allow Israel immunity from charges under the theory that dropping flaming white phosphorus on children is fighting terror.

The paradox of Israel’s cruel war
Israel’s claim that it is fighting in retaliation against Hamas’ rockets is running out of steam and the lies it has been feeding the media and Western governments have instead opened up the truth about Gaza.
Israel has exhausted the public relations boost it acquired from 9-11.

Are they planning another to take its place?

"Evidence linking these Israelis to 9/11 is classified. I cannot tell
you about evidence that has been gathered. It's classified information."
--
US official quoted in Carl Cameron's Fox News report on the Israeli spy ring and its connections to 9-11.

FLASHBACK - Netanyahu says 9/11 terror attacks good for Israel
"We are benefiting from one thing, and that is the attack on the Twin Towers and Pentagon, and the American struggle in Iraq," Ma'ariv quoted the former prime minister as saying. He reportedly added that these events "swung American public opinion in our favor."
What will happen now that American opinion is swinging away from Israel?

Israel mulling over more Gaza raids
Citing Israeli officials, the daily Haaretz reported Friday that Tel Aviv would continue strikes on the populated territory after violating a unilateral ceasefire it declared on a three-week long offensive in the tiny sliver.

Spain caves into Israel, says it will amend war crimes law so that it does not apply to Israelis.
"I was just told by the Spanish foreign minister that Spain decided to change the legislation," Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni told journalists after a telephone conversation with her Spanish counterpart Miguel Angel Moratinos.

"In order to change the possibility of different organisations, political organisations, to abuse the legal system in Spain in order to put charges against Israelis and others that are fighting terror."
Dropping white phosphorus on kids is fighting terror?

FLASHBACK - Israeli ambassador calls Asia "the yellow race"
"We don't have yellow skin and slanted eyes. Asia is basically the yellow race. Australia and Israel are not - we are basically the white race. "

Israel’s Lies
Middle East peacemaking has been smothered in deceptive euphemisms, so let me state bluntly that each of these claims is a lie. Israel, not Hamas, violated the truce: Hamas undertook to stop firing rockets into Israel; in return, Israel was to ease its throttlehold on Gaza. In fact, during the truce, it tightened it further. This was confirmed not only by every neutral international observer and NGO on the scene but by Brigadier General (Res.) Shmuel Zakai, a former commander of the IDF’s Gaza Division.

Israeli officials say State will protect them from Spanish lawsuit
"We are above the law!"

Israel 'hides settlements data'
The Israeli defence ministry has concealed information about the extent of illegal settlement-building in the West Bank, a leading newspaper reports.

Israel hopes to colonize parts of Iraq as ‘Greater Israel’
Israeli expansionists, their intentions to take full control of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and permanently keep the Golan Heights of Syria and expand into southern Lebanon already well known, also have their eyes on parts of Iraq considered part of a biblical “Greater Israel.”

Israel reportedly has plans to relocate thousands of Kurdish Jews from Israel, including expatriates from Kurdish Iran, to the Iraqi cities of Mosul and Nineveh under the guise of religious pilgrimages to ancient Jewish religious shrines. According to Kurdish sources, the Israelis are secretly working with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to carry out the integration of Kurdish and other Jews into areas of Iraq under control of the KRG.

Killing Palestinians Doesn't Count
On January 27th media headlines trumpeted that Palestinians had broken the latest cease-fire: a bomb had killed one Israeli soldier and injured two or three.

Virtually every media outlet reported this action as a major breach in the ceasefire that had begun on January 18th: CNN, AP, NPR, the New York Times, The Washington Post, Fox News, ABC, CBS, the Christian Science Monitor, the LA Times, the McClatchy Newspapers, etc, all pinned the resumption of violence on Palestinians.

There’s just one problem. Israeli forces had already violated the ceasefire at least seven times:

Israeli forces killed a Palestinian farmer in Khuza'a east of Khan Yunis on Jan 18

Israeli forces killed a Palestinian farmer east of Jabalia on Jan. 19
The bombing on the 27th was later claimed by the Jihadist and Tawhid Brigades; a rival faction unconnected to HAMAS.

Turkish PM walks out on Israeli President after denial of response

Tony Benn to BBC "If you wont broadcast the Gaza appeal then I will myself"

No Happy Ending
As I write, Israel is using a military designed to fight hostile countries to fight a hostile population. In the modern world, this has seldom worked. To defeat a country you destroy its military and capture its territory. But Gaza has little military to destroy, no tanks or aircraft, and Israel already owns its territory. The IDF can invade but, afterward, the population will still be there, and still be hostile. Stabbing jello doesn’t buy you much.

 Politics: The world after Gaza

THE MAPS TELL THE TRUE STORY

ISM video of Israel troops shooting Palestinian paramedics in Jabaliya
A Palestinian medic, traveling with two International Solidarity Movement volunteers, has been shot by Israeli forces in Jabaliya, northern Gaza.

Red Crescent medic, Hassan al-Attal, was shot through the thigh while collecting a civilian killed by Israeli fire from Zemmo, east of Jabaliya refugee camp.

KUHN: When Israel expelled Palestinians
Think about what would happen if San Diego expelled most of its Hispanic, African American, Asian American, and Native American population, about 48 percent of the total, and forcibly relocated them to Tijuana? Not just immigrants, but even those who have lived in this country for many generations. Not just the unemployed or the criminals or the America haters, but the school teachers, the small business owners, the soldiers, even the baseball players.

Hamas accepts Egyptian truce: Spain
Spain says the Hamas movement has accepted an Egyptian proposal for a cease-fire to put an end to Israel's military aggression in Gaza.

"Hamas is going to publicly express its support and acceptance," Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos told the reporters Wednesday after meeting Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.

The truce calls for an immediate cease-fire between Israel and Hamas in the densely-populated Gaza Strip, which would be followed by negotiations on long-term arrangements including an end to the blockade of the impoverished regional coast.

An unnamed Egyptian official said earlier that the Palestinian resistance group had agreed to the proposal and that Cairo was awaiting Israeli response, AFP reported.
Israel was supposed to end the blockade as part of the LAST cease fire. And they did not do that.

So I am not expecting Israel to agree to this proposal.

Blog of reports from Gaza
In light of the fighting in Gaza and in Israel, Israeli human rights groups are working together to inform the Israeli public of the impact on civilians, particularly regarding events that are not reported by the media. Each group is posting the information at its disposal, which has been verified to our best ability under the circumstances. The data is necessarily limited and should not be taken as a comprehensive picture of the human rights violations currently taking place.

Israel losing 4th Gen War conflict in Gaza
On the moral level, the picture is reversed. Hamas, the Islamic Resistance Movement, is almost assured of victory. As Israeli military historian Martin van Creveld has observed, all it has to do to claim victory is survive, which it will. That claim will not be just propaganda: For Hamas to survive everything a modern state military can throw at it is a legitimate victory. In fact, it not only will survive but also will be strengthened by a worldwide flood of sympathy, which will translate in part into new recruits and more money.

In the end, if Israel wants to stop Hamas' rockets, it will be able to do so only by making a deal with Hamas. Since that was equally true before the war, the question of why it was fought will soon present itself. The real reason is a tad sordid: The current Israeli government is trying to split the "get tough" vote to prevent the Likud Party from winning the next election.

The world after Gaza
According to Israeli intelligence estimates, the time remaining before Iran is capable of producing a nuclear bomb may now be measured in months, not years.

Israel indicts two Iran TV journalists for reporting on Gaza ground invasion

Diplomats: Gaza op causing long-term harm to Israel's image
The straw that broke the camel's back for that ambassador was the Red Cross report from Gaza that small children had been found wounded, near the corpses of their mothers, under the ruins of their homes, and other reports of civilians on the verge of dying in places ambulances could not reach because of the fighting.

"The international organizations in Gaza are talking about 200 dead children," he said. "I don't know how to explain these things to myself, never mind to my government," added the ambassador. "Your action is brutal and you don't realize how much damage this is causing you in the world. This is not only short term. It's damage for years. Is this the Israel you want to be?"
Unfortunately, Israel doesn't give a damn what anyone else thinks, because they feel secure in their belief that the terrible Jewish experience during the Holocaust indemnifies them forever from any repercussions for any acts against any of their neighbors.

And so how is that manifesting right now in Gaza?

We are seeing genocide against the Palestinians, including pre-emptive infanticide of Palestinian kids.

We are seeing the use of weapons like white phosphorous (or whatever they're calling it this week) against Palestinians.

But there are a couple of things which just might get Israel's attention on this:

1. The immediate cessation of military aid from all countries to Israel.

2. The immediate cessation of all financial aid to Israel from all countries.

Israel believes that these things will never happen, because this country has done such a good job of portraying itself as the perpetual victim.

However, due to global communications, Israel is losing the propaganda war, big-time. We're seeing the bodies of civilians, broken and mutilated. We're seeing dead children being buried. And we're seeing the burn victims, courtesy of Israel's use of "white phosphorous-lite" weaponry.

This coverage will continue, and it will be an ongoing PR nightmare for Israel that will not go away.

So, to all those Israeli politicians who felt "butch" about this attack on Gaza; please be careful what you wish for. You may yet reap the bitter fruits of unintended consequences in a very spectacular way.

Stunning photos capture Israeli bombs falling on Gaza

A just war?
I'm struck by the constant Israeli message that "any other country in the world would do the same". Would they? Comparisons are difficult, because the century-long conflict between the Arabs and the Jews is one of a kind.
Peace will happen in the Middle East when Israel is willing to accord to others only that which it demands for itself, a right to exist, and a nation of their own.

Lebanon (nudge nudge wink wink) rockets fired on Israel
The Israeli army, involved in heavy fighting with Hamas in Gaza, responded with artillery.
Remember back on Christmas day when the Lebanese border patrol found 8 rockets set up, on timers, to launch back into Israel? This was just BEFORE the start of the bombing campaign in Gaza. and as soon as Lebanon destroyed the rockets, Israel started overflying Lebanon, trying to provoke a response.

Last week a few more rockets flew across the border, and Lebanon's President offered the opinion that these rockets were actually launched by Israeli collaborators to allow Israel an excuse to re-invade Lebanon.

I agree.

I have been saying for a while now that Israel is trying to widen Gaza into a regional war while George Bush still has the authority to commit Americans to defend Israel.
